The new module gives community banks and credit unions a single inventory of where artificial intelligence is in use across their vendors and systems, with general availability January 1, 2027.

Finosec, a provider of cybersecurity governance solutions for financial institutions, today announced AI Governance, a new module for its governance platform. The module will be available to all new customers on January 1, 2027. Early access for existing Finosec customers opens sooner.

The module addresses exposure that has arrived at community banks and credit unions without a purchase decision behind it. Technology vendors are adding artificial intelligence to products financial institutions already own, frequently without an announcement and without a corresponding change to the due diligence packet. Verizon’s 2026 Data Breach Investigations Report found that 48 percent of breaches involved a third party, up from 30 percent the year before.

Supervisory attention is formalizing. On September 16, 2026, the Conference of State Bank Supervisors released an AI supervisory framework for state examiners, described as a discretionary tool for identifying and understanding AI at financial institutions, assessing the associated risks, and determining when a deeper review is appropriate. Its core examiner guide covers governance and oversight, AI inventory and use cases, and generative AI.

AI Governance gives an institution one inventory of where AI is in use across its vendors and systems, built from the system map it already maintains in Finosec. The module scores the risk of each system, records the controls in place against it, produces a due diligence questionnaire for AI vendors, and generates inventory, risk, and board-level reporting from data already in the platform. Nearly 200 financial institutions registered for a Finosec webinar on the subject in September.

“Every institution needs a process for this, regardless of size. The frameworks that exist are thorough, and they are also built for organizations with people assigned to artificial intelligence full time,” said Finosec CEO Zach Duke. “Our customers have one person carrying it alongside everything else, so we built the version that person can actually work, from data they have already entered.”

AI Governance joins InfoSec Governance 360, the Cybersecurity Assessment Tool, Access Management, Vendor Governance, and Business Continuity Management on the Finosec platform. Existing customers can learn more about early access through their Finosec account team; other financial institutions can request a demonstration at finosec.com.
