Cybersecurity Awareness Month occurs in October. The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA) created it to increase general awareness of emerging online threats and how best to avoid them.

This is a good thing. Our cyber landscape continually evolves, and our shared online connectivity continues to expand. It’s satisfying to feel closer to the people and organizations we appreciate. But the connectivity brings new risks for us to understand and know how to combat. And when new cyber threats arise every day. It’s hard to know where to start.

This is why Finosec created the Cybersecurity Awareness Toolkit. It’s useful knowledge whether you want to beef up the security infrastructure at your financial institution, or just want to personally stay safer online. When we take steps to increase our cyber awareness, we help create a more secure online environment for everyone.

We crafted this kit to include a variety of carefully curated content you can post to your social media accounts. Sharing the content helps increase awareness of basic cyber hygiene and general information security principles.

The kit includes information about:

  • Phishing:  Learn how to identify phishing tactics, avoid common sources, and be wary of typical phishing approaches.
  • Passwords: Tips to create stronger passwords and how to recognize attempts at credential stuffing
  • Mobile Security: We show multiple ways to secure your mobile device and close the doors to would-be cyber criminals.
  • Public Wi-Fi: Stay secure on the go whenever you log in to a hotel network or check your email in a coffee shop.

The Cybersecurity Awareness Toolkit kit has videos, downloadable content, and graphics. We hope it will help you spread cybersecurity awareness to your family, friends, and co-workers. We encourage everyone to do their part and #BeCyberSmart!

The way to get this toolkit is simple: Click here to fill out our Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2022 form, and the toolkit will be emailed to you shortly after.

Succession Planning: Essential for Sustaining Information Security

Succession Planning: Essential for Sustaining Information Security

In today’s world where cyber threats evolve rapidly, the challenge of replacing an Information Security Officer (ISO) underscores a critical issue: the cybersecurity job market is scorching, yet talent is scarce. This gap has turned recruitment into a high-stakes game for financial institutions, where the departure of an ISO exposes vulnerabilities and regulatory risks. With remote work expanding the competition for skilled professionals, the importance of strategic succession planning has never been more acute, ensuring that institutions remain fortified even in the face of staffing changes.
